Archbishop of Detroit to Dedicate
Aborted Babies' Gravemarker

By Citizens for a Pro-Life Society Editors

Archbishop Allen Vigneron of the Archdiocese of Detroit will officiate at the dedication ceremony  of a grave marker for 23 aborted babies—unborn children whose bodies were discovered in the trash dumpsters of abortion clinics owned and operated by Alberto Hodari in Michigan. The ceremony will take place Saturday, September. 4, 2010, 2:00 PM in the infant section of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 W. Ten Mile Road, Southfield, MI.

In early February 2008 the trash dumpster behind the Woman Care clinic in Lathrup Village, MI, was first searched by Kevin and Milissa Kukla—during a 40 Days for Life event at the Hodari facility. They notified Monica Migliorino Miller, director of Citizens for a Pro-life Society, whose organization took over searches when the Kukla’s soon moved to Texas. CPLS expanded the searches to include Hodari’s clinics in Sterling Heights and Southgate, Michigan.

In addition to the remains of aborted babies, extensive bio-hazard waste was discovered, as well as over 200 records that revealed personal patient information. On March 10, 2008 the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality conducted its own search of the Hodari trash dumpsters, resulting in the retrieval of bio-hazard waste. Despite the numerous violations of Michigan standards, the DEQ only issued a warning to the Woman Care facilities. The Oakland County prosecutor charged Hodari with 12 counts of violating Michigan law regarding the improper disposition of patient records. Those charges resulted in a 6 month probation period. CPLS filed a complaint under federal HIPAA laws with the Chicago Office for Civil Rights and is still waiting for a resolution. CPLS also filed an allegation regarding the patient records and bio-hazard waste violations with the Michigan Bureau of Health Professions, which 18 months later, resulted in no action taken. On August 23, 2010 The Thomas More Society in Chicago filed a lawsuit against the Michigan Department of Community Health for its denial of Miller’s FOIA request for an explanation as to why no action was taken. That case is pending.

Hodari’s clinics are for sale—perhaps signaling that he intends to get out of the abortion practice.

Miller states:
“Our discovery of the aborted babies, the bio-hazard waste and the patient records has been a sad and very frustrating experience. Most tragic, of course, is the killing of the innocent unborn and their bodies treated like trash. At least these 23 victims of legalized abortion found their way to a human cemetery and on Saturday the Archbishop of Detroit will dedicate their grave marker. This simple stone not only marks the grave of unwanted and discarded unborn children—but it is a sign of America’s injustice towards the most vulnerable and helpless members of the human family. The voices beneath the stone call out to us to continue the fight to secure the right to life for all human beings. We must not ignore their plea.”
