CPLS Featured in New York Times

By Citizens for a Pro-Life Society Editors

On October 9, 2009, and again on October 10, 2009 the New York Times published articles which included graphic images of aborted babies. The stories, written by New York Times reporter, Damien Cave, are "perhaps the first time in the history of the pro-life movement that a news organization has published photos of abortion victims" indicates Dr. Monica Migliorino Miller, Theology professor at Madonna University in Michigan and Director of Citizen's for a Pro-life Society.

These articles are, as Dr. Miller puts it, "a coup, and are sure to generate much debate. But, most importantly, we need to pray that hearts will be changed. Our goal is to show and tell the truth about the injustice of abortion."

Reporter, Damien Cave, attended the memorial service for murdered pro-lifer, Jim Pouillon. After the service he approached Citizen's for a Pro-life Society Director, Monica Migliorino Miller, and asked about the use of graphic images in pro-life work. A two hour interview followed and the articles, "Behind the Scenes: Picturing Fetal Remain " (Oct. 9) and "Abortion Foes Tell of Their Journey to the Streets " (Oct.10) ; the multimedia video, "Foot Soldiers " and a slide show, "Behind the Scenes ", are the result.

The Oct. 10th article, "Abortion Foes Tell of  Their Journey to the Streets",  appeared on the front page of  the paper version of The New York Times as is shown by the image above.

On Lens Blog, the New York Times photojournalism multimedia pages, the article, "Behind the Scenes: Picturing Fetal Remains" , by NYT reporter, Damien Cave, was published on Oct. 9th and includes the slideshow, "Behind the Scenes", which is photos of abortion victims taken by Monica Miller and (finished photos) held up by Dr. Miller for photographing by Stephen McGee, NYT photographer.

September 17, 2009

Damien Cave, New York Times reporter, authored the article, "Memorial Held for Slain Anti-Abortion Protester" that places the reader right there in Owosso and envelops him in the emotion that followed the murder of James Pouillon, a faithful and dedicated pro-life activist.
